Rise Against Steals the show from MCR

On Tuesday Jame and I went to see Rise Against open up for My Chemical Romance at the E Center in Salt Lake City (technically West Valley, but I'm not from da hood.) I gotta say, I was disappointed in the crowd for the first song or two. It took a good couple of minutes to get warmed up.... but when we did we opened a nice pit and started thrashing like we were at a Slayer concert.
I freaking love Rise Against. I love their music, I love their thoughts and ideas, I love being part of their scene. My Chemical Romance was a bit of a change, but they put together a nice little show.
If you consider canons that shoot little white peices of confetti hundreds of feet into the air a "little show". They were quite theatrical and if you're into that more power to them. They played right into their crowds hands and people were eating it up.
Girard, my chemical romance' lead singer, was black clad in his band uni with his face painted white and hair dyed black, again. He was looking scary, which is what he was going for and it works for him. I think I saw more junior high girls crushing over him than the last time I saw Good Charlotte.
They didn't allow cameras into the show, but i hid one in my taint and was able to snap a few pics. I'll post later. It's bed time.

Fangs Up!

Most of the concerts I attend consist of me amoung a sea of sweaty men and screaming girls, with no view of the band that I came to see. On friday March 2, I stepped out of my comfort crowd, and rose to a new level, we watched from a balcony. It is amazing the things you miss when you can't see past the sweat soaked mohawk in front of you. Although I enjoy most of the concerts I go to, the change of pace was surprisingly enjoyable, it was the most fun I have had at a concert in a long time. Cobra Starship puts on an amazing show, they get the crowd hyped with their upbeat, somewhat humorus lyrics and Gabe's charming personality. There is just something amazingly appealing about singing every lyric and not injuring your voice chords in the process.

Nate, Jamie, and Gabe from Cobra Starship

Me Snuggling up to Gabe, oh how soft were his cheeks?

All in all, I love to see Gabe and his cobra gang, and I will continue to see them when I can...in the meantime i'll be the 5'0 black & red haired girl who gets swallowed by the mob.

Utah gets a Taste of Chaos

Jamie and I went to the 2007 Taste of Chaos tour in Salt Lake city, Utah with high hopes. We loved the bands on the bill and were very excited to see some of the smaller guys tear it up. As most concerts do, they made some last minute changes and started an hour earlier than originally planned, so we missed half of the Chiodos set. The headliners of this years tour are 30 Seconds to Mars (who just announced that Matt the bassist has left the band) and the Used (hometown Heros!).

30 Seconds To Mars 07 Taste of Chaos SLC, Utah

The Chiodos can get a crowd started which is tough for opening acts to do. Utah knows how to throw a pit and get it going. Other opening acts were Senses Fail, who have a deep screamo feel that even the lead singer admits comes from serious daddy issues.
Aiden was spectacular as usual. Jamie and I saw them back in 2005 when they opened up for 30 Seconds to mars in Las Vegas. They were exciting then as they were last year at Warped Tour in SLC. The band has a unique fan based usually black clad with plenty of distorted make up.... I miss the goth days so so bad. These guys definetly make me want to burn my friends and die romantic.

30 Seconds to Mars always puts on a great show. They are Jamie's fav band so I'm sure her post has more on these fine gentleman. After the show Jame snuck in line (it was forever long and she just doesn't have the patience to wait) and got to meet the band. This is like our seventh time seeing and meeting them so they all recognized her which is always fun and makes us feel good.

The Used is a local band gone Huge, not sold out just went big. They put on a great show with some gnarly pits. The crowd sang everyword, drunk girls in the stands cried as Burt lullibied them with songs about depression and not fitting in. It was a great time, we snapped lots of shitty pictures, but we will post anyway.
